About this species

Habitat
Evergreen, semi-evergreen, mixed and lowland dipterocarp forest, in the middle to upper canopy
Range
Eastern Cambodia and southern Vietnam

The black-shanked douc is a douc found mostly in the forests of eastern Cambodia, with smaller populations in southern Vietnam, in the Annamite Range. It is the only douc with a bluish face with large yellow eye-rings; the outline of the face is a thin chestnut band, the throat is white, the back dark grey, the belly light grey, and the rest of the body black, with a white pubic patch. Like other doucs, it has a tail as long as its head and body (Wikipedia, general species account).

It moves quadrupedally and by brachiation in the middle to upper canopy and lives in fission-fusion groups of 3 to 30 animals, whose size changes with food availability. Four social units occur: one-male units, bands of several such units, bachelor groups and lone males; in Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary one-male units averaged 7.5 animals. Its latitudinal range is narrow, about 11°N to 13.5°N.
