The northern buffed-cheeked gibbon, listed here as the northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon, is a species of crested gibbon found in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, in the humid subtropical and seasonal tropical forests of these countries (Wikipedia, general species account).
It resembles the yellow-cheeked gibbon in appearance, and males and females differ in colour. The male has a mainly black pelt that glistens silver in sunlight, a lighter brown chest, deep golden-orange cheeks and a very prominent crest. The female lacks the crest and is orange-beige.
