The Sumatran striped rabbit, also known as the Sumatra short-eared rabbit, is found in the montane forests of the Barisan Mountains in north-western Sumatra and surrounding areas. It is similar in size to the European rabbit but with shorter limbs and muzzle and a broader head, and is distinguished by black or dark brown stripes across its yellowish-grey body (Wikipedia, general species account).

Its close relative, the recently discovered Annamite striped rabbit, has similar fur patterns but is found only on the Laos–Vietnam border (Wikipedia, general species account).
