The shrew-faced squirrel, also known as the long-nosed squirrel, is the only species in its genus. It is a peculiar, terrestrial squirrel of forests in Peninsular Malaysia (possibly also southern Thailand), Singapore, Sumatra and Borneo, and feeds mainly on insects and earthworms. It closely resembles a Tupaia treeshrew in appearance, but can be recognised by its shorter gape and shorter, bushier tail (Wikipedia, general species account).
