About this species

Diet
Small insects, grubs, shoots, seeds and fruits (as reported on Wikipedia)

The dusky-striped squirrel is endemic to Sri Lanka (The Sunday Times, Sri Lanka, January 2025). It is described as highly alert and timid, with a high-pitched trill of rapid barks, and it joins mixed-species bird feeding flocks in the forest (Yapa 2013, as reported on Wikipedia).

It often comes to the ground and inspects logs, which has led to the view that it depends on invertebrates more than its relatives do (Phillips 1981, as reported on Wikipedia). Nationally Vulnerable (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
