The hairy-footed flying squirrel lives in the mountains of the eastern Himalaya, Southeast Asia, southern China and Taiwan, at elevations of 800 to 2,400m. The fur is red-brown on top and white below, the edges of the eyelids are dark brown, and the sides of the face are pale rufous. The ears are moderately large and rounded, darker towards the tips (Wikipedia, general species account).
Its name comes from long hair on the feet that even covers the claws, protecting against cold at altitude. The body is about 22cm long with a tail of another 13cm. The sources opened here give only this short description, with nothing on diet, breeding or behaviour in Nepal, so none is stated. Nationally Data Deficient (Nepal National Red List 2011).
