The western woolly flying squirrel is a very large flying squirrel, one of the largest squirrels, with a head and body length of 42–60 cm, a tail of 43–54.5 cm and a weight of 1.4–2.5 kg. Its long, thick fur has a grizzled pattern that gives a woolly look, which distinguishes it from the two other species in its genus, which have a more saturated brown coat. For a long time it was thought to be the only species in the genus (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is native to northern Pakistan and north-western India, and recent research has confirmed that it remains in Kashmir. It has also been found in Uttarakhand and in Jigme Dorji National Park in Bhutan, which suggests a wider range than thought. The cached account gives no diet, behaviour or breeding information (Wikipedia, general species account).
