About this species

Range
Endemic to Sumatra

The Sumatran flying squirrel is a flying squirrel found only on Sumatra. It was discovered in 1949 and is known from a single specimen. It is nocturnal and arboreal, spending most of its life in the canopy, and unlike most other flying squirrels it has no membrane connecting to its tail. It is threatened by its restricted range and by habitat loss from logging (Wikipedia, general species account).
