About this species
- Range
- Found only on Borneo, through most of the island
The Bornean shrew is found only on Borneo, throughout most of the island, and it may or may not be present in Brunei. Genetic work reveals that the species is paraphyletic: individuals from central, south and western Borneo form a clade that diverged about a million years ago from a clade that includes animals from Sabah, the Kinabalu shrew and the black-footed shrew of Sulawesi (Wikipedia, general species account).
