The Chinese mole shrew is one of four species of Asian mole shrew in the genus Anourosorex. Despite the name, it is found not only in China but also in north-east India, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Like all other species of the genus, it is fossorial, and it is found in montane forests (Wikipedia, general species account).
In 2006 the US Centers for Disease Control reported that this species can carry a version of the hantavirus that is genetically distinct from rodent hantavirus and was new to science. The cached account gives no measurements, diet or breeding information.
