About this species

Range
Northern Vietnam, southern China, possibly Laos

Orlov's mole is a species of mole in the family Talpidae, known from northern Vietnam and southern China, and possibly Laos. It was named after the Russian zoologist Nikolai L. Orlov of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is known from Lao Cai Province in northern Vietnam and from Yunnan, and may have a wider distribution in the highlands of northern Laos and in north-western Vietnam west of the Red River. It is a large mole comparable in size to E. longirostris, distinguished by its long, club-shaped tail and its small, light-built skull with a narrow rostrum.
