The pygmy fruit bat, also called the grey fruit bat, is a small megabat (fruit bat) of mountain forest. It is confined to montane forest above about 1,000 m on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Java, and on Borneo it has been recorded at Mount Kinabalu, the Crocker Range, Gunung Mulu and Bario (Wikipedia, general species account).
Breeding records are scattered: Hill (1961) saw pregnancies in February and May in Peninsular Malaysia, and Medway (1978) gave February to June as the breeding period, while a pregnant female was collected on Lombok in October (as reported on Wikipedia). Three specimens collected at Bario in April 1995 were not in breeding condition.
