The large Asian roundleaf bat has a forearm of 66.5–79.3 mm, broad, large, triangular ears and a complexly foliated nose-leaf with intermediate, anterior and posterior leaflets. The specific name commemorates the Thai zoologist and conservationist Boonsong Lekagul (Wikipedia, general species account).
It was first documented in Thailand in 1972, in the Philippines in 1992, and is also found in Peninsular Malaysia, at elevations of 50–400 m (Wikipedia, general species account).
