About this species

Hardwicke's woolly bat is a vesper bat with smoky brown fur on the back and lighter greyish-brown fur below. The forearm is typically 31–36 mm and the ears about 11–15 mm. The wing membrane is blackish-brown but translucent, and it shows a more marked size difference in its premolars than other woolly bats (Wikipedia, general species account). Notable features include been reported roosting in caves and buildings in forests, foraging in residential areas and roosting on rooftops, in rattan vine leaves in Indonesia and in a bamboo thicket in the Philippines. (Wikipedia, general species account).

Habitats used include the forest understory, roosting in hollow trees or dead leaf clusters, and is found from Bangladesh and China through Southeast Asia (Wikipedia, general species account). Its recorded distribution includes Bangladesh, China, India (Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and West Bengal), Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan (Punjab), Philippines, Sri Lanka (Central Province), Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. In Southeast China this mammal is found to be quite common in the forest, but the number found, the population sizes, and ecological trends are unknown in South Asia. (Wikipedia, general species account).
