About this species

Range
Dak Lak Province (Vietnam) and Koh Kong and Ratanakiri provinces (Cambodia)

Walston's tube-nosed bat is a species of vesper bat found in the Greater Mekong region of Southeast Asia, specifically Dak Lak Province of Vietnam and the Koh Kong and Ratanakiri provinces of Cambodia. It was discovered in north-eastern Cambodia in the Van Sai Protected Forest, and has tube-shaped nostrils, which assist with feeding (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is one of 126 new species found in the Greater Mekong region in 2011. Two other tube-nosed bats were found in Southeast Asia that year, the ashy-grey tube-nosed bat and Beelzebub's tube-nosed bat. All three are small for bats, and this one is small even for a Murina.
