The eastern or Asian barbastelle is a vesper bat found throughout much of Asia, from Afghanistan south throughout the Himalaya and east through China to Taiwan and Vietnam. Its range is thought to comprise mountainous areas at moderate elevations, where it inhabits montane temperate and subtropical forest (Wikipedia, general species account).
It likely roosts in caves, rock crevices and tree hollows, and it has been recorded foraging over streams. There is a single dubious record from Tamil Nadu in southern India. The cached account gives no measurements, diet or breeding information (Wikipedia, general species account).
