Diet
Insects
Habitat
Montane primary and secondary forest; roosts in tree hollows and coconut palms
Range
Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea

Rohui’s bat is a small, robust vesper bat with relatively short forearms and proportionally small wings. The muzzle and ears are bare, the face is short, and the broad, short ears end in rounded tips. Its thick, fleshy tragus has a nearly straight inner edge and a slightly convex outer edge, while the fur is dark brown throughout. It is the sole species placed in the genus Philetor (Nepal National Red List 2011 and Wikipedia, general species accounts).

Published accounts place this insect-eating bat in montane forest, including both primary and secondary growth. It roosts in tree hollows and coconut palms; the sources opened provide no dependable reproductive details. The Mammal Diversity Database records it from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, while an older general account also lists Brunei and an isolated Nepal record. Because the modern database does not support Nepal, that outlying record should not be used to define its accepted range without further taxonomic checking (Nepal National Red List 2011; Mammal Diversity Database).
