The Sunda pangolin, also called the Malayan or Javan pangolin, is a member of the pangolin family (Manidae). Its English name comes from the Malay word pengguling, meaning roller. The skin of its feet is granular, with pads on the front feet (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is native to Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and the islands of Borneo, Java, Sumatra and the Lesser Sunda Islands. It prefers primary, secondary and scrub forest, but also lives in rubber and oil palm plantations, and is largely arboreal (Wikipedia, general species account).
