About this species
- Range
- North-east India and Bangladesh northeast to most of eastern China
The northern hog badger is a mustelid of South and East Asia. Its range runs from north-east India and Bangladesh north-east to most of eastern China. The forequarters are blackish, and the mid-back, tail and hindquarters are either white or mixed with white. Old animals have only a moderately developed sagittal crest on the skull, unlike the two other species in the genus (Wikipedia, general species account).
The cached account is only a few lines long and says nothing about diet, behaviour or breeding. The closely related greater hog badger, described elsewhere on this site, is active by day and omnivorous, but that behaviour should not be assumed for this species (Wikipedia, general species account).
