About this species

Habitat
Lowland evergreen forest, moist tropical evergreen, subtropical and limestone forest
Range
Vietnam, Laos and a very small part of southern China (Yunnan); never found west of the Mekong

Owston's palm civet is a viverrid native to Vietnam, Laos and a very small portion of southern China, in three counties of Yunnan province (Hekou, Luchun and Jinping), and has never been found west of the Mekong River. It lives in lowland evergreen forests where dry seasons are not too harsh, within a restricted range that includes the Annamite mountains (Wikipedia, general species account).

Camera-trap studies suggest its range is limited to certain forests within these regions: moist tropical evergreen forest, subtropical forest and limestone forest. Very little is known about its life history in the wild. Its population is declining because of over-exploitation and habitat destruction and degradation.
