About this species
- Weight
- 1.4-3.2kg
The golden palm civet is gold to golden brown above and paler gold on the belly (Cuvier 1822, as reported on Wikipedia). Some specimens are darker, and montane animals are a darker, slightly greyish wood-brown (Groves et al. 2009, as reported on Wikipedia). Weight is 1.4 to 3.2 kg (Animal Diversity Web, as reported on Wikipedia).
The 2012 National Red List treated the golden palm civet as Paradoxurus aureus, split from the Sri Lankan brown palm civet, and listed it as Endangered nationally (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012). Later genetic work treats aureus as a synonym of Paradoxurus zeylonensis (Veron et al. 2015, as reported on Wikipedia).
