About this species

Size
About 149mm from head to base of tail, in the original description

Sonnerat's shrew is known from an old description by the naturalist Sonnerat, who found it larger than the common Asian house shrew and without a musky smell. Males were shiny black with a white band or patch on the middle of the back, and females also had the white patch but were grey. He gave the head-to-tail-base length as about 149 mm and the tail as about 29 mm (Wikipedia, general species account).

The cached account is a historical description only and says nothing about where the animal lives, its diet or its breeding, so nothing about its present status in India can be stated (Wikipedia, general species account).
